VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) lets abuse survivors self-petition for immigration status WITHOUT the abuser's signature or knowledge. It applies to:

You must be currently residing in the United States
Abused spouses of US citizens or LPRs
Abused children under 21
Abused parents of US citizens (age 21+)
Ex-spouses (within 2 years of divorce if abuse-related)
Applies to men, women, LGBTQ+ people, all nationalities
